The length of your hair may be one of your biggest concerns when choosing a bridal hairstyle – what if your locks are too long or too short for the hairstyle you want?
Nine times out of ten, this worry is unnecessary.
At your hair trial, I will endeavour to show you that almost all of the most popular styles can be personalised to suit your hair length, texture, and cut exactly!
If you’re looking for the perfect bridal hairstyle for short hair, then check out my suggestions below, jot down your ideas, and bring them along to your first hair trial!
The half-up, half-down bridal hairstyle is ever-popular. It captures the best of elegant up-dos and natural down-dos, as well as all the sophistication of soft glam. For both short and long hair, a variation on this style is often the favourite. It suits both curly and straight hair, as well as a range of gorgeous accessories! You can see plenty of examples of the half-up, half-down style on long hair over in my gallery.
Short and Sleek
It may have crossed your mind to choose a bridal style that is not too dissimilar from your everyday or usual dressed-up look. For many brides-to-be, this is the best way to feel comfortable and relaxed on their wedding day. If this sounds like you, then we can absolutely make that work! Perhaps this sleek bob appeals to you? With just the additional of a fascinator, headband, or tiara to add a touch of glamour.
The Low Bun
If you’ve got your heart set on having an up-do, but aren’t sure your hair is long enough, then consider a low bun. If you’d like a chignon, volume can be added through the use of accessories; but, I personally love more personal, bespoke styles like this one, where the hair is textured, with plenty of spots for pins, slides, or flowers.
More and more, my brides-to-be are asking for natural styles. And, while keeping long hair smooth and tidy while in a loose, natural style may be a little tricky, those with short hair are onto a winner. Free-spirited waves can be the perfect hairstyle for boho or outdoorsy weddings, but can also be kept sleek for more traditional celebrations.
There is nothing to say that short styles can’t work with curls. A few brides have approached me over the years with this exact concern, and I’d like to take this opportunity to dispel it completely! Shoulder-length bobs, like that of the bridesmaid below, can look stunning when shaped into big, bouncy ringlets.
Make a Statement
These two lovely brides both gave me short-hair envy. Their chosen styles just proved that anything really is possible with short hair. Opt for a cropped cut with a statement fascinator to draw people’s attention, or shave one side and and make your style the statement!
