All about the bride

What is a wedding hair trial, and do I need one?

Yes, I would highly recommend you have one, as this enables you to have a face-to-face conversation with your hair stylists. This gives us time to discuss any allergies you may have and what look you would like. I can also recommend a make-up artist for you and arrange for them to attend the trial to ensure we complement each others work. Your trial should last approximately 2-3 hours.

Do I need to bring sample images of styles I know I like?

These can be helpful resources when talking through what styles or themes to include and what to avoid. Any prior research from you will help me put together the bridal hair look of your dreams. Pinterest can be a great resource. If, however, you’re short on ideas, I will ask you a few questions and make suggestions to help you arrive at your ideal style.

Who can attend the wedding hair trial with me?

I politely request that you only bring one or two other people along to your trial, as photos can be taken on the day.

Should I wash and dry my hair before my hair trial?

Yes, I always ask you to arrive with clean, dry hair that is free from products. Wash your hair the evening before, and leave it to dry naturally or with a dryer. Do not use products in your hair, as this ensures I know what condition your hair will likely be in when I arrive on your wedding day.

What if I change my mind about my chosen hairstyle after my hair trial?

After your initial hair trial, you are welcome to book in further trials closer to your wedding day to work in any changes you would like.

What can I bring to the hair trial?

You could bring some or all of the following:
– Bridal gown
– Shoe ideas
– Pictures of hairstyles
– Veil, tiara, or hair accessories
– Flower ideas
– Images and notes on your chosen venue
If I come to you for your hair trial, I will have a range of hair styling product for everyone’s hair type, as well as styling equipment that will require a power socket.

What if my hair comes out of place on the morning of the wedding, after I put on my dress?

My team and I will stay for touch-ups if needed, to guarantee you arrive at your wedding looking perfect. Should you want me to stay longer than this, please discuss this with me as far in advance as possible.

The bridal party experience

Can Michelle style my bridesmaids’ and mum’s, and guests’ hair too?

Of course! Hairstyling is usually booked for the entire bridal party. This can be carried out in different rooms, if needed, on your wedding day. I recommend that at least one bridesmaid has a hair trial prior to the wedding; this can be organised for the same time as yours, or I can arrange a different date when the whole bridal party can attend.

Do you do a bride-hair only package?

Not normally, no, but I have styled brides-only before and am happy to do so again. The minimum cost of £300 plus travel will still apply.

Will more than one stylist be available for a larger bridal party?

I have a team of expert stylists who can be on-hand to assist with larger groups, so none of the bridal party will miss out on their dream hair!

How long does Michelle need to allow for each person on the day?

There is no set timeframe in which your perfect bridal look can be achieved, as I work backwards from when you would like to be ready. Your hair trials are designed to give me an idea of how long needs to be set aside on the morning of the wedding, so I can confirm timings for the day.

Booking with Michelle

When should I book my hair trial?

I recommend having your first hair trial as soon as you have booked your venue and found your beautiful wedding gown. This gives you plenty of time to ensure you are happy with the Bridal Hair in Hampshire service, whilst also helping you visualise your complete wedding look as you finalise the other details. Please fill out a booking form and return to me via email before the date of your trial.

I liked my hair trial and now I want to secure my date; how do I go about this?

If you are 100% happy with the result from your trial and my service, and would like to book us for your wedding day, I will require a further £200 deposit to secure the booking. This figure will be deducted from the final cost, and I do not accept cheques. Once the deposit is paid, I will confirm in writing the date secured and services requested. This deposit is non-refundable if your wedding is cancelled or numbers change in your wedding party.

Can I book you to stay until the evening?

It’s not uncommon for a bride to want to freshen up or change the look of her hair for the evening. For this additional service, I charge an additional £50/hr, from the time of your ceremony. I will ensure you hair looks its best throughout the day, and will stay until your first dance so your style looking stunning for your evening guests and photos.

What areas do you cover?

I travel all over the UK/ Europe for my brides. Costs are as follows:
0-10 miles: £0
11-25 miles: £20
26-39 miles: £30
40+ miles: price to be agreed
Congestion charge, parking fees, ferry fees, flight costs, accommodation (where applicable for early starts if travelling a long distance) will be added to the total cost. Mileage is calculated based on a round trip from my address in Salisbury, assessed by AA Route Planner. Travel costs are negotiable for large wedding parties.

What if my wedding has to be postponed due to COVID-19?

If you have already paid your deposit, but are now in the process of rearranging your wedding date, please contact me as soon as possible to ensure you do not lose your deposit.

What if I decide we’re not a good fit after my trial?

Don’t worry! After your initial hair trial, there is no obligation to go ahead and book your big day with me. I understand how important it is for every detail to be exactly as you envisaged on such a significant day. However, this has never happened before!

When do I need to pay the full balance?

The full balance must be paid no later than 6 weeks before your wedding date. Unfortunately, your wedding date will not be secured if you fail to pay your invoice for the services requested.
