Spring and Summer used to be the most popular times of year to get married, but now the wedding season runs throughout the whole year. This is great as depending on which season you are drawn to, you have a wider range of inspiration to be playing with!
Next week the clocks will go back and for many this is when the first signs of winter start to creep in. Personally we love the darker, cosy evenings and chilly, crisp mornings! For those of you planning a wedding for winter 2023 or even 2024 this may also be the time you start looking for inspiration and there’s plenty of it. From wedding magazines to Instagram there will be no shortage of gorgeous ideas for you to consider and to help you out even more here are some of our own thoughts to help you bring your winter wonderland wedding to life.
To kick off the winter wedding inspiration, lets talk Faux Fur Shawls! These glamorous pieces of clothing are the perfect way to keep yourself and your bridal party warm. Your bridesmaids and flower girls will look like they just walked off-set from a Narnia film! Cosy, unique, and the perfect finish for a winter wedding look!
Flowers and buttonholes to suit the occasion. Extend the winter look with some lavishly green leaves, red berries and pines for your cascading wedding bouquet and buttonholes! You could even add in some sparkles and glitter, especially if your wedding is getting close to Christmas too!
Wintery and snowy invites. Ok, so we can’t guarantee it will snow at your wedding (unless you go all out and hire a snow machine!), but you can create the ambience and excitement of a snowy winter wedding with some beautiful invitations for your guests! Again, adding some glitter can really set the tone of the day.
On the subject of snow and without hiring a snow machine, you could opt to purchase some biodegradable Snow Confetti! Your guests will love it and will make for some gorgeous action photographs!
Winter Wedding Arch! Now, this really does have a touch of Narnia…. create a romantic and dreamy entrance for your guests by having a beautifully wintery and maybe Christmassy gateway to the wedding breakfast. What an entrance you and your new husband or wife can make too and another great prop for magical photos or video.
Winter Wedding Cakes…. you can keep it simple or be as extravagant as you want (it is your wedding day after all!). Gold leaf, sparkles and frosted effect or cascading with flowers and pines. The list is endless. You may decide to step away from the traditional cake and lean towards a Gingerbread house/castle or maybe even a Christmas tree! Either way, the warm flavours of a winter-themed cake will keep all your guests happy.
Wedding Favours with a wintery twist. By keeping the cosy, wintery theme throughout the wedding into favours, you can really create a wonderland of excitement for your guests. Personalised candle favours for your guests to remind them of your special day are just perfect (don’t forget to keep one back for yourself!), while hot chocolate wedding favours are a yummy gift for and a great way to warm the soul, sit back, and reminisce on the day… and for those weddings close to Christmas, you can create some wonderful Personalised Christmas Decorations for your guests to hang each year on their tree.
Christmas Decorations can also be used for the Table Settings and Name Cards and one the guests can reuse over and over again! You could personalise each bauble or simply have colour-coordinated baubles with the guest’s name clipped onto it… either way, it is a great gift and a little reminder of the day.
Another gorgeous idea to bring warmth to the table is Illuminated Table Numbers. With battery-operated tealights inside a snowflake cut-out card with the table number, this simple yet effective idea, ties up the look perfectly and brings a glow to each table in the room!
Weddings are a great opportunity to embrace the seasons and draw on the fun and exciting parts of these cooler and darker months. Fireworks are an exciting way to bring the day to a close and look they always look fabulous lighting up the crisp night skies making for beautiful wedding photographs. Toasting marshmallows, and drinking mulled wine are just some of the long list of ideas you can also bring into to the day to make everyone feel super cosy.
You can have so much fun at a winter wedding and be bold with colours and textures for your wedding scheme. So even though the days are darker and chiller, your wedding day can ooze warmth, glamour, and sparkle. Don’t hold back and give your guests the party of the year!
You never know, Santa may even drop by (now there’s an idea for keeping the kids entertained!)
