Alexandra and Andy’s wedding at Babington House was like something out of a fairytale. Though I only met Alexandra the day before the wedding, I arrived on the morning feeling a strong connection to their love story. It means a lot to be able to share the details of such a magical day with you now.
The wedding morning, with her glamourous bridal party, was such a fun experience, with big smiles on every face and lots of laughter. As the beautiful photos show, it was the ultimate pampering session before such an important day!
Alexandra and Andy kindly answered a few of my questions about how their big day came together. Have a read of their answers below, take a look at their chosen suppliers, and see if inspiration strikes!
Wedding Date: 11th July 2019
What theme or vision did you have for your wedding day?
We got married at Babington House in Somerset. We didn’t want to get married in London, despite both living in London as we wanted lots of greenery. Babington House is a Grade II-listed manor set in 18 acres of countryside and is classy and beautiful with a very relaxed feel. The moment we looked around, we knew it was where we wanted to get married!
What was your favourite moment from the morning of your wedding?
My favourite moment was when my dad walked in to the bridal suite for the first time just before the ceremony! My dad and I are so close and I’ve always been a daddy’s girl, so I will cherish the photos of that moment forever.
How did you choose your final bridal hairstyle?
I had five different hair trials. Two with two different hair artists and then finally with Michelle the day before my wedding. I really didn’t like how anyone else did my hair and had resigned myself to the fact I was going to do my own hair on the day. I gave it one last shot on the wedding eve and Michelle was everything I had been looking for, but had been so hard to find in anyone else. I wanted a relaxed ‘down’ hairstyle that didn’t look too ‘done,’ and however much anyone else tried to make it look casual they just didn’t manage to! Michelle was the only one who cracked it!
How did you choose your wedding suppliers?
Luckily, our venue has a recommended suppliers list which was so helpful and helped arrange the food and flowers. I always knew I wanted Anna Fowler Photography to shoot our wedding, and used Christina Ouloupi for make-up and Steve Hood for videography. They were all incredible!
What was the most magical moment from the rest of your special day?
The speeches were emotional and hilarious and everyone danced the night away until the last dance!
What 3 tips would you give to future brides planning their wedding?
My 3 tips would be:
1. Get organised early—it alleviates so much stress
2. Make sure your bridesmaids are people that will really be there for you
3. Don’t take things too seriously on the day!
