You may have seen a selection of photographs of the lovely Robyn on my social media pages. Her timeless bridal style is a look I know is always popular with my brides.
The wedding morning at Careys Manor Hotel was wonderful; so full of emotion and excitement. Although it was a few years ago now, I have loved looking back on such a special day.
I spoke to Robyn about her fondest memories from the day, her recommendations for brides-to-be in the throes of the wedding planning process, and how she chose those all-important details on the day.
Wedding Date: 14th May 2017
What theme or vision did you have for your wedding day?
We wanted our day to be beautiful but relaxed and our primary goal was just to provide an easy atmosphere for guests to mingle and make memories.
What was your favourite moment from the morning of your wedding?
The moment the last button on my dress was fastened, and I was all of a sudden a bride. I’ve never felt anything so special.
How did you choose your final bridal hairstyle?
I wanted an up-do, but I wanted it to be relaxed and not super groomed and refined. I knew I wanted to walk down the aisle with waves and flowers in my hair.
How did you choose your wedding suppliers?
The photographer we chose (David Wheeler Photography) was someone who I had followed on social media for years, and I was always spectacularly blown away by his wedding shots, so I knew from early on that I wanted Dave to capture our wedding day for us. Having Dave as our photographer was one of the most special parts of our day, and I’ll treasure the photos forever.
I went to a wedding fair in Salisbury and found some information for Teresa Jolly (MUA) and Michelle from Bridal Hair in Hampshire. I looked at their websites and reviews and booked in for a trial with both of them and was thrilled with the result. I knew they had regularly worked together, and I liked the idea of them already having an established working relationship. They were able to create the exact look I was going for and also gave such great advice. I’m so glad I chose them.
What was the most magical moment from the rest of your special day?
Gosh – this is a really tough one because there were simply so many amazing moments. It would have to be Adam’s speech because it was so beautiful and at the very end he announced that I was 10 weeks pregnant. It was so special. We also had an hour or so where Dave, our photographer, drove us into the forest and we took photos in the setting sunlight. It was a moment for us to just be together and that was also so special.
What 3 tips would you give to future brides planning their wedding?
My 3 tips would be:
1. Don’t be pressured into making plans based on other peoples’ wishes- I did and I regret it. This is your day and no one else’s.
2. It really is worth forking out for a good photographer.
3. Remember to stop, take a breath and enjoy every moment as it goes so fast.
