The Little Princess Trust

Donate Your Hair to the Little Princess Trust

Being able to give back to the community is important to all of us. We all want to do our bit to help others whenever we can, and there is no better time than after the fun, celebration, and extravagance of your wedding day.

It is for this reason that I wanted to find a way to support an organisation I love, that does amazing work, through my work at Bridal Hair in Hampshire.

This organisation is the Little Princess Trust.

Many of my lovely brides tell me that, after their wedding day, they want to completely change their hairstyle and go for something short. Up until this point, I haven’t often been able to help with this post-wedding styling. But now, alongside the Little Princess Trust, I have put together a package to help my brides change up their style after their big day, while also donating the cut hair to children with cancer who are in need of wigs.

My Little Princess Package works at no extra cost to my brides. Instead, once your big day is over, you will be invited to come into the studio for a complimentary hairstyling session, so we can cut your hair and give you a shorter style that you love. The cut hair will then be sent, along with the monetary donation, to the Little Princess Trust.

I hope that my brides will embrace this as an opportunity to help give confidence to children who are suffering, as well as a chance to revamp their look.

For more information on how the Little Princess Package works, please feel free to email me at michelle@bridalhairinhampshire.co.uk or book a call directly into my diary.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Little Princess Trust, here is a little bit more information about the important work that they do:

The Little Princess Trust gives Hair and Hope to children and young people by providing wigs and funding vital research into childhood cancers.

The charity provides around 2,000 real hair wigs every year to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or due to other conditions such as Alopecia.

The children and young people helped by The Little Princess Trust explain just how much the wigs help to restore their confidence and identity.

But the charity can only provide its free service thanks to the selfless efforts of its supporters, many of whom not only donate their hair but also fundraise to help the charity turn their long locks into beautiful wigs.

The greatest demand is for The Little Princess Trust’s longest wigs, and so the charity encourages supporters to donate hair measuring at least 12 inches in length.

Hair must be dry and in a good condition when cut to ensure it can be used in a wig.

The Little Princess Trust was set up in 2006 in memory of Hannah Tarplee. Two years earlier, she had been diagnosed with a Wilms Tumour and the loss of her hair was especially traumatic.

Her parents felt the most fitting tribute to the five-year-old would be a charity dedicated to providing wigs to children who had lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.

The Little Princess Trust was born, and the charity has now provided wigs to more than 11,000 young people of all genders.

The charity is also now one of the most significant charity funders of childhood cancer research in the UK and has committed more than £16million to projects focused on finding kinder and more effective treatments for childhood cancers.
